Steelers make a statement!

With a 25-17 victory over the Patriots this past Sunday, the Steelers now hold a 6-2 record, which is the best in the AFC. But, right behind them are the 5-2 Baltimore Ravens who gave the Steelers a nice butt kicking in week one. The Steelers are in control of their own fate right now, they just have to get through two division games until their by week, where they may have an opportunity to get some guys healthy.

The Steelers have improved each week on offense, and continue to get better each and every day. Ben Roethlisberger was 36-50 for 365 yards against New England, and could have put up even more points against the Pats. Big Ben spread the ball all around the field, especially, getting his tight end heavily involved in the first quarter, Heath Miller. Ben has 2,302 yards on the season, and is on a steady pace to break his passing yardage record he set in 2009 of 4,328 yards. But the offensive game plan was simple for the Steelers on Sunday, just keep Tom Brady off the field, don't even give him a chance to beat you, and the Steelers didn't.

The Steelers Defense played a sound outstanding game. Man on man coverage for the entire game, and never let up against a really good Patriots scoring team. Steelers OLB LaMarr Woodley had a great game, pressuring Brady most of the evening, recording 2 sacks, bringing his sack total to 9 on the year. Woodley did leave late in the game with a hamstring injury, but the stingy Steelers defense didn't let up. Safety Troy Polomalu left his own stamp on the game after a strip sack caused by Brett Keisel, Troy dove on the ground between Patriots players, punching the ball through the end zone causing a safety, and ultimately closing the deal for the Steelers. What a great statement game. Next up, Baltimore, so get ready because it's "Ravens Week."
